Fritz Springmeier Gets 9 Years for Bank Robbery
PORTLAND – A list of possible terror targets compiled by an ultra-right wing group, including government buildings and other facilities were made public Thursday as a federal judge sentenced a Portland area man for his part in a 1997 bank robbery.
After the sentencing of Fritz Springmeier, a self-described religious author, Clackamas County Sheriff deputies revealed a loose-leaf binder seized in 2001 as a part of the case.
Springmeier, a white separatist known for his anti-government writings will serve 9 years in federal prison. Federal Judge James Redden characterized the robbery that included the detonation of a pipe bomb as a diversion as “vicious.”
Among the locations handwritten in the binder entitled “Army of God, Yahweh’s Warriors, were the federal building, FBI offices, and KATU studios in Portland.
Floor plans to the FBI offices were also a part of the evidence seized in a raid on property near Corbett on Feb. 9, 2001.
In the raid, federal agents also seized a cache of military-style assault weapons, including an AK-47, hand grenades, C-4 explosives, and bomb-making ingredients that included ammonium nitrate and fuel oil.
“We take it (the target lists) very seriously,” says Steve Thoroughman, a detective with Clackamas County, and the lead investigator of the US government’s case against Springmeier and his accomplice Forrest Bateman, who was convicted and sentenced earlier this year in connection with the bank robbery.
Thoroughman says agents of the FBI and ATF have reviewed the hand-written notes and have followed up on those leads.
“They had the means to do almost anything they wanted to,” said Thoroughman. They had fully automatic AK-47’s, they had night vision, they had ceramic body armor, anything they needed to carry out an assault.”
Federal prosecutors say the handwritten notes were a clue to the workings of the group, but without additional overt acts they did not provide enough evidence to prove a conspiracy.
“We had to have more to make that kind of a case,” said Frank Noonan, the US attorney who prosecuted Springmeier.
Springmeier’s wife Patricia says her husband first met Bateman at a bible study in 1995.
“He knew the bible forward and backward, and that’s why they first got together,” says Patricia Springmeier.
Patricia also says her husband was framed by the federal government for his writings that she believes exposed corruption at high levels of the government.

Rebuttal To The KATU News Report
Regarding My Husband, Fritz Springmeier

The above two statements stand in stark contrast to one another. The actual statement (blue text) was spoken by the most courageous man I have ever met in my life. The paraphrased statement (brown text) is a fiction that was attributed to the same man–my husband, Fritz Springmeier–by Eric Mason of KATU News (the local CBS affiliate) and John Stevens of International News in their KATU News report.
How Mason and Stevens sat together in the courtroom, right behind me, with notebooks and pens in hand and yet bungled so audible a statement is beyond my comprehension. For the purpose of this rebuttal, KATU’s statements will be in brown and my response will be in blue.
Prior to sentencing, we had originally wanted to forward a simple communication from Fritz to let you all know that everything is OK and that we are seeking a retrial through several justifications.
However, because there was so much fiendish innuendo and so many blatant lies contained in the KATU / Stevens report; we are obligated at this point to simply refute each false allegation one-by-one. I must add that in view of the latitude given law enforcement since the RICO act and 911, if they truly had such evidence against my husband, he would be charged and tried for Conspiracy to Commit Terrorist Acts. District attorney Frank Noonan says that “We had to have more to make that kind of a case”. Thus, the real agenda for spreading such yellow journalism locally, is that it will ruin Fritz’ chances for getting an untainted jury should one of the the appeals be successful-and of course-bring mainstream recognition to the so-called journalist, John Stevens. So, what about this “evidence”?

FACT: This statement makes it sound as if the judge included it in his sentencing decree–which he did not. Furthermore, none of this “evidence” was spoken of at all in the courtroom. Notice how the article and video contain the typical “cover-your-legal-rear-end” qualifiers such as “possible terror targets”, “evidence suggesting” and accusations disguised as questions.

FACT: The loose-leaf binder was found on the Huntington property where Tony Huntington and Forrest Bateman lived. The handwriting in the loose-leaf binder is definitely not Fritz’. Furthermore, although Fritz makes no secret that he is a Christian, he has never described himself as a religious author.
The video presentation shows a cache of illegal weapons, an Army of God armband and the loose-leaf binder, all obtained during a raid, leaving the viewer to assume that these items were found on our property. An anonymous source, interviewed gives the same laundry list.
FACT: Again, all were items found on the Huntington property.
TONY HUNTINGTON–The Missing Link
Conspicuously absent from the report is any mention of Tony Huntington, on whose mother’s property all of the “evidence” used in KATU’s report was found. Huntington and Bateman (Bateman rented a room in an out-building on the property) had been friends since childhood and lived on Huntington’s mother’s property. For five months after the Feds raided his place, Huntington lived with the knowledge that the illegal arsenal and 50 plant pot grow (complete with power diversion) would net him an approximately 120 year sentence.
Thus, five months after authorities raided his house, Huntington decided to finger Fritz for the Damascus Key Bank robbery in 1997 in exchange for leniency. Although KATU’s report on Fritz mentions Bateman as one of the Key Bank robbers, missing is the fact that as prosecution’s principal witness against Fritz–Huntington perjured himself on the stand by admitting to having taken an active role in the robbery on the day of the robbery. Huntington received a paltry 3 ½ years for his testimony against Fritz.
Another of Huntington’s lies which was not revealed in the courtroom, but was contained within the discovery paperwork for the case, is that Fritz used the robbery funds to finance a trip to Japan to promote his “Bloodlines of the Illuminati” book. When Reverend Izumi Koishi heard of this allegation he made two unsuccessful attempts to fly to Portland from Japan at his own expense, in order to appear in court to refute Huntington’s assertion with cold, hard evidence. Sadly, the trial date kept moving around, so that Reverend Koishi lost money on two sets of non-refundable flight tickets. Fritz’ former attorneys kept waffling on the decision of whether to let Koishi testify. However, before the third attempt was made by Koishi to appear, Fritz’ attorneys decided not to let Koishi testify.
After the guilty verdict was handed down, Reverend Koishi then flew in to offer support. He also brought the evidence that he would have shown in court–a receipt for a Citibank draft in the amount of $2,000 USD made out to Fritz so that he could give a talk about “Bloodlines of the Illuminati”, which consequently got published in Japanese. Fritz’ Japanese supporter’s paid full perdiem on Fritz’ visit. Not only did Fritz not have to spend one penny of his own from the moment he boarded the plane to go over there, he received a $2,000 fee for speaking.

FACT: Fritz has never been a white separatist and, in fact, has a “rainbow coalition” of friends and supporters. His writings can be characterised as exposing the illuminati and anti-corrupt government.

FACT: Fritz is neither left wing or right wing. “Ultra right wing extremist”, “white separatist”, these are smear labels used by lazy journalists.
From Video-“Fritz Springmeier considered himself a member of a loose-knit group known as the Army of God. Experts on US hate groups say the Army of God is a loose-knit group with no formal membership rolls.”
FACT: First of all, notice that the above statement contains built in deniability–“loose-knit group” and “no formal membership rolls”. These two qualifiers mean that they have absolutely no proof that Fritz belongs to the Army of God. Moreover, Fritz has never considered himself a member of the Army of God and every longterm friend of Fritz’ that I have asked about this, not only denied it, but laughed at the thought of it.
In summation, the entire piece was done to smear Fritz and to ruin his chances for a fair retrial. Finally, while KATU is correct in stating that Fritz has been critical of mainstream media, he would never plot to bomb their studio. The mainstream media should look to themselves as the possible source of their own destruction.
Fritz and I will continue to seek justice and to vindicate his innocence. We look forward to the appeals.

His research on Fritz Springmeier is sixth-grade level and his writing is the same level of logic. In my opinion he fabricated the alleged letter that he received from Fritz Springmeier. If he actually received such a letter he would have published a photocopy of it on his personal website. No such letter was entered into evidence at the trial. Fritz Springmeier Update – August 13, 2003
Hi Everyone,
There are two late breaking events regarding Fritz. One is good news and the other is not so good news. So I’ll give the good news first. The Feds have approved of funds for an investigator pre-sentencing, which is fantastic. This means that they see some merit in Fritz’ new attorney fighting for a retrial before sentencing, or they would have refused the funds. This new attorney has his trip together. Within two weeks of receiving the 318 page transcript and 650 pages of discovery, he had everything scanned and burned onto a CD. He interviewed Fritz for four hours and once he got the investigator, the investigator interviewed him for three hours. It is such a relief to have someone who cares! We are hoping that it is uphill from here so please keep us in your prayers—they are obviously helping.
Well, now for the bad news. One of the inmates assaulted Fritz last Wednesday, so they both got thrown into solitary confinement. Fritz tells me that he took a beating, but that he’s OK. It’s heartbreaking to be in a situation where you can’t protect or comfort your loved one. The last I spoke to him was Wednesday and heard nothing until yesterday (Tuesday) when I got a letter from him. When he didn’t call on Monday, I knew something was wrong. I’ve included an excerpt from his letter detailing the event in this update. If you’ve been thinking of writing to him lately, now would be the perfect time. Below is the contact info. for Fritz. You can send him letters and postcards only. If you want to put money on his books for stamps, batteries for his radio or other commisary items, it must be a postal money order made out to him with his Federal ID number. Springmeier Update – July 26, 2005, We Need Your Help!
| Dear Friends,Last month Fritz and I were able to have a visit for the first time in a year-and-a-half. I flew from Denver to Phoenix and stayed for a weekend and so was able to visit with him on a Saturday and Sunday. We were pleasantly surprised to have gotten a full six hours of visiting in each day! When Fritz was housed in Oregon, we were usually limited to two-hour visits to accommodate the small visiting room. You can’t imagine the excitement and relief we felt when we finally saw each other in person because, at first, it looked like the Feds were not going to let me visit.You see my trip for a short time was postponed because, in order to harass Fritz, the prison staff had pulled my approval at the last minute. After lots of prayer, calls to my senator and protests by Fritz, the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) restored my visiting privileges. The final hurdle to clear was to pass the GE Iontrack Itemiser test, which tests for 30 different substances. They put a fresh filter in a wand and pass it over your body and drivers license. Fritz warned me that certain things might give false positives, such as perfumes and lotions. BOP policy is that if a visitor fails the test the first time, they must wait 48 hours before attempting to visit again—in other words a wasted visit from out of state. It seemed so cruel. What a helpless feeling it was to consider that I had no control over what substances prior customers may have had in my rental car, hotel room, or even, who handled the bills in my purse before they became my money (the very bills I was to use to get coins in the prison lobby to use in their vending machines!). Fortunately, they had a restroom where I could wash my hands after handling the money and before being tested. For more information on the Iontrack Itemiser go here to read GE’s product information. Unfortunately, I see more of these in our future. Thankfully, I cleared the Itemiser test and Fritz and I went ahead with what became a great trip.[Permission granted.]
As you can see, Fritz looks great and is doing great. We lost complete track of the time and never ran out of things to talk about. They have a photographer on the weekends, so we had our picture taken. He does a lot of legal work and teaching to help other inmates. He teaches a course on the Civil War, for which the inmates get history credit, as well as math and other subjects. He extends his greetings to all of you, and thanks each one of you for your overwhelming support. He really enjoys all of the letters he gets. After the visit, I understand much better Fritz’s legal battles, but even I can’t be told everything to insure the legal process to free him goes smoothly. He is currently on his final appeal. While the specifics can’t be disclosed, your donations of love have allowed him to retain an accomplished attorney, J.M. Irigoyen of J.M. Irigoyen Law Corporation of Fresno, California. Mr. Irigoyen is helping Fritz out because of who he is. We expect terrific things to be happening this year, but we’re short $5,000 for the final installment which is due by September 7, 2005. In order to proceed with Fritz’ appeals,we urgently need help with Fritz’ legal fees. This is his last chance to overturn this incredibly unfair conviction. One more thing that I am sure will amaze you. Pope John Paul II is the very first Pope in history to actually fulfill this prophecy two fold. As far as my research bears out, I have never seen a pope’s give name equate to 666. His titles, yes, but his given name as pope? As far as I can tell, this happened first with John Paul II.

| Evil takes many forms in this world. It’s areas of influence go deeper into the workings of our lives and institutions than many are aware of. We began SIS with the goal of protecting people from the manifestations of this evil, and when asked, cleansing their environments from it. Though it may be hard for some to fathom, our world is influenced, manipulated, and managed by what some refer to as Archons(Def. a ruler).In Ephesians 6:12 we find other titles for them: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Here are some other titles in Romans 8:38: For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,These beings have one primary purpose. The ruination of mankind’s soul. I will cover the many means they employ to accomplish this in future articles. They feed off of human suffering. It very literally is food for them. These are very grim topics, but ones which must be addressed.Today’s entry will cover a subject which is not widely known by the public. It is a tactic which is used to drive people over the edge. It is called Gang Stalking. Gang Stalking is a systemic form of control, which seeks to control every aspect of a Targeted Individuals life. Gang Stalking takes place outside in the community. It’s called Gang Stalking, because the target is followed around and placed under surveillance by groups of organised Civilian Spies/Snitches 24/7. I personally dealt with this situation when I was a law enforcement officer. I was investigating a large organization of luciferians, and they employed all of the tactics in this article to derail my investigation.Predatory Gangstalking is also called “terror stalking”, “gangstalking”, “flash mobbing”, “cause stalking,” “hate stalking,” “multi-stalking, “happy slapping,” “workplace bullying, and “covert war.” The reasons why it is employed? You found the wrong forum on the internet and saw something you should not have seen; you worked for a company and found out some sensitive information; you got on the wrong side of someone who is a member of the vast satanic or luciferian cabal; etc. What does this have to do with the field of the paranormal? On a macrocosmic level, preternatural beings are the driving force behind activities such as gang stalking. The destruction of a person feeds them. It also fits in with their overall agenda. People who are victims of gangstalking are people who pose a threat to the goals of the dark principalities. In addition to being stalked by large groups of people, malevolent/demonic entities may be attacking you in the night, and disembodied voices may be harassing you at all hours. Though seemingly unrelated, all of these subjects tend to be connected. The goal of Gang Stalking The expressed goal of Gang Stalking is to silence a victim, drive a victim insane and possibly to the point of suicide, or destroy the victim’s reputation and believability as the person will likely be viewed as mentally ill should they complain or report the abuse. Gang Stalking is also used to gather information on individuals as well as force individuals to move or leave an area. Motivations for the abuse Motivations for Gang Stalking vary. Revenge for a real or imagined offense(People in these organizations are quite petty, mirroring their preternatural handlers); false accusations of a “horrible crime” of which the victim has gotten away with(Used to discredit the victim and destroy his/her reputation); silencing a corporate “whistle-blower”; defecting from a cult; a perceived enemy of a group or organization; “knowing too much” are all examples of possible motivations. Who are the stalkers? The stalkers, for the most part, appear to be everyday citizens. They wear business suits, push their children in strollers, and shop at the local grocery store. They are encouraged to fit in with the community. Other stalkers are “street thugs” who have been hired to harass and intimidate. Vast numbers of stalkers seem to have no idea that they are being controlled and used to harass people. Like a vehicle, the entities enter, use/drive them, and then exit. They will be going about their business one moment, then like a switch being flipped, they are your worst enemy. They go about their assignment with an icy hateful demeanor or at times a nearly playful trickster persona. Under it all there is a constant seething malevolence that is palpable. A gang stalking group is a well-run organization comprised of members who are unidentified as gangstalkers to the outside world. Until a group of gangstalkers turn their face towards someone selected to be one of their targets, members of society do not realize there is such an invisible group. The practitioners of gang stalking are people who, for the most part, go about their business of daily life appearing like everyone else, except for their activities involved with Gang stalking. Gangstalking activities take priority over everything else in the lives of gangstalkers. Gangstalking is actually a lifestyle for those who participate in it. -Some stalkers are told lies, either positive or negative in nature, in order to gain their participation Who, or what is behind Gang Stalking? Societies/Fraternities/Orders, Religious Cults and Destructive “New Age” Groups, Corporations, Government Organizations, Military, Concerned” Community Groups/Vigilante Groups, Criminal Organizations, etc. Ultimately, the source of it all are the malevolent/demonic principalities. They are the true heads of state and corporations in this world. It conveys the otherworldly nature of this form of attack, and gives you the feeling of what it’s like to be stalked. Examples of Gang Stalking Harassment Flash mobs, Slashed Tires, Threatening Phone Calls, Verbal Assaults by Strangers, Property Damage, Death Threats, “Peeping Toms”, Following on Foot or by Vehicle, Bizarre Notes and Drawings Left(usually of a satanic nature), Odd behavior by multiple people in relation to the victim(Everyone makes a certain gesture as they walk by, or mention victim’s name while talking on their cellphones), Loitering, Anonymous False Accusations to Friends, Family, and Neighbors, Character Assassination, Smear Campaigns, “Black-Listing”, Psychological Abuse, etc. Tactics used by Stalkers Anchoring Anchoring is a technique employed by stalkers to implant a false motivation or reason behind the stalking, preventing the victim from discovering the truth. In more sinister examples, Anchoring involves the implantation of evidence to persuade the victim some other group or organization is responsible for the abuse. Baiting The term “Baiting” is a stalking tactic used to lure a victim into environments, or situations, which cause further problems to the victim. Often “Baiting” involves tricking a victim into committing a crime or unknowingly engaging in an illegal activity such as assault. They trick the victim into thinking an innocent bystander is the culprit of their harassment and try to compel the victim into assaulting the person. Brighting Brighting is a term jokingly referred to by stalkers to indicate the practice of repetitive flashing of a car’s high-beam headlights. The victim is usually followed and may be “flashed” from either a “tail-gating” vehicle or a passing or on-coming one. “Brighting” also occurs when bright lights are flashed into a victim’s home-windows. Electronic Harassment is the use of technological devices to spy on or cause harm to targeted victims. For example, exposure to a high magnetic field has been shown to induce hallucinations in humans while exposure to intense microwave radiation induces psychotic episodes and causes brain damage. A frequent form of Electronic Harassment involves beaming a low frequency “hum” or “tone” into a victim’s home or general area. Over time, the exposure causes the victim to lose sleep, become agitated, and suffer the effects of prolonged stress. Such tactics are also being used in cases of hostage situations as well as covert government operations. These forms of magnetic fields can be caused by technological or preternatural means. Ghosting The term Ghosting refers to the practice of rearranging, or moving, of a victim’s home furniture, lawn decorations, desk decorations at work, etc. The purpose of Ghosting is to make a victim question his or her sanity. Ghosting is also designed to make other’s question the sanity of the victim, especially if the victim attempts to complain of the abuse. Mimicry Mimicry is a specialized form of harassment in which the stalkers publicly imitate every movement made by the victim. This shows an aspect of the trickster. It is a manifestation of the true source of the stalking. Mobbing Mobbing is a term that describes “Group Bullying”. Of itself, Mobbing is not equated with gang stalking. However, Mobbing may be a tactic used by the perpetrators of gang Stalking. “Flash mobbing” is an event occurring when a targeted individual is spotted in society. Their photo and location is immediately and simultaneously sent out by cell phone text messages and Internet email to all gangstalkers within a certain radius. All gangstalkers then suddenly descend upon the target as a mob. Noise Campaign A Noise Campaign is an orchestrated effort to produce stress in a victim through prolonged exposure to significant noise levels. A Noise Campaign can range from multiple neighbors routinely playing loud music, individual stalkers with air-horns or fireworks, or organized “repair work” that involves a high level of noise. Sensitization is a psychological term referring to the forced association between a stimuli and a corresponding reaction. Stalkers use Sensitization to psychologically abuse a victim. For example, if a stalker constantly harasses a victim while wearing a blue baseball cap, then overtime the victim will begin to believe anyone wearing a blue baseball cap is a stalker and is coming to harass. Sensitization undoubtedly creates an extreme level of fear in a victim, in direct fulfillment of the intentions of the stalkers. Street Theater Street Theater is a term used to describe the odd-actions and behaviors that stalkers do in public, in an attempt to rile the victim.Such behavior often borders on the extremely bizarre and is aimed at a blurring of the boundaries between reality and fantasy in the minds of the victims. The term Gas-Lighting originates from the 1944 film Gaslight. In the movie, the character of Gregory Anton, played by actor Charles Boyer, attempts to drive the character Pauline, played by actress Ingrid Bergman, insane. The phrase Gas-Lighting has come to mean similar actions and behavior, as used in the film, against a victim. “The White Glove Treatment” is slang for Gang Stalking as jokingly referred to by the Masons who either participate in, or know of its usage against so-called “Enemies of Freemasonry”. [Note: The phrase “The White Glove Treatment” is not limited to Freemasonry, as members of similar groups and organizations often practice Gang Stalking.) Reportedly performed by cults and secret organizations such as Satanists, secret orders of free masons, some voodoo /obeah practitioners and Scientologists as a means of control or for punishment. “Ritual abuse” is incorporated into “ritual gangstalking” patterns in this case. Cybergangstalking A situation where an individual is identified to be a target through Internet participation and their personal identity is determined. Cybergangstalkers pierce the electronic veil and are able to enter into the real life of a person, creating all forms of harassment, theft, psychological operations including slander and libel, and able to commit crimes against the targeted individual. SORCERY IN THE BIBLE, PHARMAKEIA AND MODERN MEDICINE:
ANY CONNECTION?
A QUESTION I WAS ASKED:
‘I HAVE HEARD THAT THE “SORCERERS” DESCRIBED IN THE BOOK OF REVELATION ARE ACTUALLY MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS AND THAT WE ARE SINNING WHEN WE GO TO SEE OUR DOCTORS. ANY TRUTH IN THIS CLAIM?’
(JUST A WORD BEFORE YOU PROCEED, PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU CHECK OUT THE OTHER ARTICLES LISTED AT THE FOOT OF THIS PAGE!)
MY ANSWER:
There are three or four places in the New Testament describing ‘sorcerers’ and ‘sorcery’ (in the KJV that is, newer translations often don’t use these words). Some (mainly in the cults, sects and extremist charismatic groups) have associated these references with modern pharmacists and the medical profession; but is there any validity in this approach? We need to look at these words very closely:

SORCERER (Acts 13:6,8 – KJV)
This is from the Greek ‘magos’, it means ‘sorcerer’, ‘magician’ or, ‘wise man’ (Word 3097 in Strongs). There is no association with pharmacy or medicine.

SORCERIES (Acts 8:11 – KJV)
This is from the Greek ‘mageia’ it refers to magic (Word 3095 in Strongs) – no connection with pharmacy.

SORCERIES (Revelation 9:21 and 18:23 – KJV)
This is from the Greek ‘pharmakeia’ (Word 5331 in Strongs). There is some connection here to the word ‘pharmacy’ which we must look at in a moment.

SORCERERS (Revelation 21:8 and 22:15 – KJV)
These uses of ‘sorcerers’ (KJV) use a different Greek word to the singular use of this word in Acts 13:6,8; so this is not just the plural of the same word. From the Greek ‘pharmakeus’ (Words 5332 and 5333 in Strongs). So there is a connection between all four uses of words 5331, 5332 and 5333 in Revelation. There is indeed a relationship here to the English word ‘pharmacy’ (which of course, is directly derived from these Greek words). Is this calling modern medical practitioners ‘sorcerers’? Is this saying that you and I should never visit a doctor??
Okay. Now lets ensure that we correctly understand this:
The root meaning of this group of Greek words is ‘druggist’ ‘poisoner’ or, ‘giver of potions’. These particular ‘sorcerers’ were persons able to prepare and dispense potions. But why did they dispense these potions? Was it in order to give relief from illness?
Absolutely not! It was in order to stimulate hallucinations or visions! We must understand that it was long part of pagan religious practice to administer potions, or drugs, which would encourage hallucinations! There is, of course, a direct parallel here to modern illicit drug taking. But these original ‘pharmacists’ were involved in the black arts and in demonology; the basic idea was that taking certain potions could bring one into contact with the spirit world, and that this was to be desired. But the fact that the modern English word ‘pharmacy’ happens to be derived from ‘pharmakeia’ frankly proves absolutely nothing! Do people visit doctors in order to be given drugs which will bring them into contact with the spirit world? Of course not!! People visit medical practitioners in order to to have an illness diagnosed, to be treated for sickness, or to gain relief from illness! Yet there are some extremist charismatic ministries around today which teach that we sin when we visit a doctor just because the word ‘pharmacy’ happens to be related to these Greek words!
We must understand that on several occasions the Bible backs up the principle that sick people should look around for remedies for their sickness. This is a very clear biblical principle! Lets look at some examples:
When Job was afflicted by boils he seemed to be aware of the principle that the draining sores needed to dry out so he sat in ashes (Job 2:7-8).
Jeremiah refers to the balm of Gilead which was evidently deemed to have medicinal qualities (Jeremiah 8:22; 46:11).
When Hezekiah was seriously ill, Isaiah told him to put some figs to boil, although we cannot be sure in what way this may have been medicinal (2 Kings 20:7).
The therapeutic affect of happiness of mind upon one’s health comes out several times (Proverbs 17:22, for instance).
The medicinal use of wine is mentioned in Scripture several times (including 1 Timothy 5:23). Indeed, today pharmacologists recognise how good a small amount of wine is for the digestive system, backing up Paul’s advice to Timothy!
The good Samaritan treated the wounds of the injured man with wine and oil (Luke 10:34). Wine is an antiseptic and will tend to coagulate blood, thereby assisting healing. Oil soothes and forms a coating.
The Church at Laodicea is admonished to use their locally-produced eye salve because of their lack of spiritual vision (Revelation 3:18).
Even way back in Genesis it is obvious that the Israelite midwives had developed obstetrical care to a high standard (Genesis 35:17). It has been said that the procedure of Genesis 38:27-30, for instance, would even be very challenging for modern obstetricians!
Mark 5:26 shows that physicians were certainly available within Israel and we also know that Luke was a physician. According to the Baker Encyclopedia of the Bible, the rabbis ordained that every town should have at least one physician (Vol 3, page 1430, 1997 printing).
So we see it well established that those becoming sick or injured were expected to seek medical help! Indeed Jesus Himself shows acceptance of this principle when He said:
‘…..They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.’ (Luke 5:31)
What about very serious illnesses?
In the case of Christian believers who develop life-threatening injuries or illnesses, we see the principle established that they should make their illnesses known to fellow-believers and to request prayers (James 5:13-18). The prayers of faith are indeed efficaceous as many of us have found! But this does not mean they should not also seek medical help! All the sick of the Bible are prepared to seek whatever help is available. James 5:15 (KJV) says ‘The prayers of faith shall save the sick’, that is, those prayers will save those sick people whom God decides to heal – many of us have learned that this is not a blanket promise, and if such very sick righteous people die, they are instantly healed at the point of death in any case (when their souls depart to be with the Lord). Of course, we should pray for the gravely ill whether they are in the faith or not.
Likewise Psalm 103:3 states that the LORD,
‘….Healeth all thy diseases.’
That is, it is God alone who heals! When we are healed, we are only ever healed through the grace of God. Doctors may do their bit but God alone grants healing. So Psalm 103:3 says that God heals all our diseases: that is, He heals all the diseases or illnesses or injuries which we attain healing from. But this is not a blanket promise of healing in this life as countless other Scriptures show and many of the righteous of the Bible were not healed in this life (though were certainly healed at the point of death).
But…
But the Bible does suggest that those who are in a relationship with God do wrong when they place their full trust in physicians – God alone is our healer and deliverer!! Too many times I have heard sick people say things like,
‘I am undergoing treatment but I have full faith in my doctors!’
Yes, seek medical help and assistance, but place your full trust and faith in God who alone is our healer – not in doctors!
Finally, what about different kinds of remedial treatment and assistance?
Some Christians seem to think that only herbal treatment is acceptable, but where is the justification for that view? This ignores the fact that medical practice is increasingly adopting herbal agents and practices where they are helpful, and also ignores the fact that some herbal treatments – when exhaustively tested – have been shown to be completely useless (although such treatments could have helped as placebos). Others think that any far eastern medicine must be useless at best or demonic at worst. Yet acupuncture, for instance, is apparently well established as a helpful treatment and I have never yet heard of anyone undergoing acupuncture treatment subsequently becoming possessed by demons! Western mechanistic medicine does not necessarily have all the answers; it is not wrong to look around for alternatives. Nevertheless, look to God alone as your healer.
What I Am NOT Saying…
I am not saying that the edifice of ‘modern medical science’ is without fault! I just want believers not to be hypocritical nor naive in their biblical interpretation. Much within modern medicine is sometimes scandalous, especially its control by the wealthy pharmaceutical industry. Sometimes highly worthy forms of alternative treatment for cancer, for instance, have been discredited without mercy – even though there has been real evidence of their efficacy. Why? Because the drug industry wants the cancer sufferer toonly use their treatments/products – even though the two of these which they most rely upon involve putting poisons into the body in the hope that those poisons might also kill the cancer. Again, I am not even saying that this is wrong in every single case; every Christian must make his/her own decision in this very difficult area. But let that decision be guided by prayer.
CONCLUSION
While the English word ‘pharmacy’ is indeed derived from a group of Greek words used to describe those pagans who used potions to encourage hallucinations in those who wanted to contact the spirit world, to suggest that modern medical pharmacists are in any way associated with the ‘black arts’ is as ludicrous as to suggest that when my friend took penicillin for a very serious infection, he was really more interested in contacting spirits!!! (By the way, my friend was healed and gave the full glory to God who alone is our healer). The modern medical profession is not by any means without its faults (there are certain things which I would certainly question) but it is ridiculous to blacken them (no pun intended!) because they borrowed a word which had sinister connotations in the original Greek!

Psychotropic drugs acceptance and widespread use
The increase acceptance of legal drugs to deal with mild mental health problems has become as normal as going out to get some ice cream on a beautiful summer day. The increase use of drugs of all sorts is another end time sign that will cause some alarming and very disturbing results in the upcoming years. The text below uses the word sorceries which is translated from the word pharmakeia. Pharmakeia definition: use or the administering of drugs, poisoning, sorcery, magical arts, medication, or witchcraft (casting spell with brews). “And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived”. Valentine says that the CIA believed that in order to win the war, it had to destroy the Viet Cong’s political and administrative organization and root out its supporters throughout the country – kind of like the way the ‘War on Terror’ is doing now to the Taliban in Afghanistan. Four regional centers were also built, and an existing National Interrogation Center (NIC) was modernized in Saigon. I visited the NIC on ‘intelligence matters’ on many different occasions when I was in Saigon.
“Phoenix was run essentially by a cadre of ‘secret police’ advised by the CIA and American military intelligence officers. Informants were recruited in every district, village, and hamlet in Vietnam. On the basis of an accusation made by a single anonymous informant, a VC suspect or sympathizer could be arrested and detained indefinitely. They were held until they confessed (often under torture); and then they were sent to Stalinist internal security tribunals (like the ones Bush is proposing) for ‘further disposition.’
“This is exactly what the OHS is proposing to set up in this country, and America has a lot of experience in such matters; the CIA has been operating Phoenix-like programs throughout its system of ‘client states’ for years now, so operating one now in the United States would be a cinch – we reap what we sow eventually. This is called ‘blowback.’ Valentine says that like the Phoenix program in Vietnam, the OHS will establish field offices in the 50 states and all of America’s major cities. In order to achieve its elusive goal of ‘internal security,’ the OHS, like Phoenix, will need to extend its informants nets throughout the country. Inevitably, every town will probably be required to form an OHS Committee which will be comprised of citizens that the OHS has deemed politically suitable. The job of these committees will be to process reports by ‘concerned citizens’ (i.e., informants) about the activities of ‘suspected citizens.’ Perhaps once a week these reports will be forwarded to the OHS Committee at the county level. The country committee will review the reports and send the most urgent ones to the state committee. At each level, the reports will be filtered through an ideological filter.
“What makes such a system especially dangerous is that Attorney General John Ashcroft has vowed to ‘arrest and detain any suspected terrorist who has violated the law,’ and has further promised ‘airtight surveillance’ of them – but has yet to define what a ‘suspected terrorist’ is. This is what happened in Vietnam too. There was never any consensus about the definition of a VC sympathizer; at best, it was tacitly understood by the ideologues, and the security forces under their control, that a person was either ‘for us’ or ‘against us.’ Moreover, it wasn’t enough to be just ‘for us’ in a passive sense; one had to be actively ‘against them.’

The SS CTF evidently stands for State Security Citizen Threat File. But it has nothing to do with the Department of Transportation. “At the point we have now reached, it is necessary to make a clarification on Jewish theology, which, on the subject of monotheism and how it is lived by Christianity, gives rise to a debate that is essentially a dilemma. And the building that houses the supercomputers is known as the Tordella Supercomputer Center. And it’s a place where time is measured in femtoseconds, one million billionth of a second. And they’re working on computers now that will do one septillion operations a second—which is one with 24 zeroes after it—because in order to break code, you need super fast, super powerful computers…
“I worry a lot about these new policies and procedures coming out of Washington, especially the creation of this new Office of Homeland Defense, which according to government officials will be the second largest government agency in the entire country—second only to the Pentagon. This is one enormous agency. One of the functions is supposed to be analysis of intelligence, but I thought that was what the CIA was supposed to be doing. And in addition to that, this is supposed to be analyzing all the intelligence from all the different agencies, to look for terrorism. But that’s why they set up the National Center for Counter-Terrorism at the CIA, to be an all-source analysis from all the different agencies.
“So, there are a lot of questions that have to be asked about all this new re-organization, and what it’s going to do, how much duplication. And one of the key questions is, how much is it going to eavesdrop, or how much of this intelligence is going to begin focusing on U.S. citizens? If I were the prince of darkness
I’d want to engulf the whole world in darkness.
And I’d have a thrid of it’s real estate and four fifths of it’s population,
but I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree.
Thee!
So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States.
I’d subvert the churches first,
I’d begin with a campaign of whispers.
With the wisdom of a serpent I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve:
“Do as you please.”
To the young I would whisper that “The Bible is a myth.”
I would convince them that man created God,
instead of the other way around.
I would confide that what’s bad is good
and what’s good is, square.
And the old I would teach to pray, after me:
“Our father, which art in Washington…”
And then I’d get organized,
I’d educate the authors in how to make the lurid literature exciting,
so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting.
I’d threaten T.V. with dirtier movies, and vice versa.
I’d peddle narcotics to whom I could,
I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction,
I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.
If I were the devil
I’d soon have families at war with themselves,
churches at war with themselves,
and nations at war with themselves,
until each in it’s turn was consumed.
And with promises of higher ratings
I’d have mesmerizing media
fanning the flames.
If I were the devil
I would encourage schools to refine young intellects,
but neglest to dicipline emotions,
just let those run wild.
Until before you knew it,
you’d have drug-sniffing dogs
and metal detectors
at every school house door.
Withing a decade
I’d have prisons overflowing.
I’d have judges promoting pornography.
Soon I could evict God from the courthouse,
then from the schoolhouse,
and then from the Houses of Congress.
And in His own churches
I would substitute psychology
for religion and deify science.
I would lure priests and pastors
into misusing boys and girls,
and church money.
If I were the devil
I’d make the symbol of easter an egg,
and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.
If I were the devil
I’d take from those who have
and give to those who wanted,
until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious.
What’ll you bet,
I couldn’t get whole States to promote gambling
as the way to get rich.
I would caution against extremes:
in hard work,
in patriotism,
in moral conduct.
I would convince the young
that marriage is old-fashioned.
That swinging is more fun.
That what you see on T.V. is the way to be,
and thus I could undress ou in public
and I could lure you into bed,
with diseases
for which there is no cure.
In other words
If I were the devil
I’d keep right on
doing what he’s doing.
